BERKELEY - Cal gave up 11 runs in the first three innings and ended up suffering a 19-6 non-conference loss to No. 5 Stanford Monday at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bears, who were outhit by the Cardinal, 23-10, dropped to 17-13 overall. Stanford improved to 20-7.

Top hitters for the Bears included junior designated hitter Vince Bruno, who was 3-for-6, while junior first baseman Mitch Delfino and senior catcher Chadd Krist had two hits apiece. Bruno is currently on a nine-game hitting streak. Junior second baseman Tony Renda finished 1-for-3 with two RBI, and sophomore right fielder Andrew Knapp hit his team-leading 11 double of the year.

Cal will next travel to Santa Clara on Tuesday, April 10 for a 6 p.m. game at Stephen Schott Stadium, the site of Cal's 2011 NCAA Super Regional victory over Dallas Baptist. The Bears return to Pac-12 play this Friday through Sunday, April 13-15 versus Washington at Evans Diamond. Game times are 2:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. KNEW 960 AM will be broadcasting the Saturday and Sunday Washington-Cal games.
