Final Stats

SAN FRANCISCO - Cal's women's volleyball team saw its five-match win streak come to an end Saturday night as the Bears were beaten by the University of San Francisco, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

Senior opposite Correy Johnson had eight kills and three blocks for Cal (6-4). Adrienne Gehan and Shannon Hawari added six kills apiece. Gehan also had 13 digs.

It's the second time this season the Bears have fallen to USF. The Dons beat Cal in five sets earlier this month at the Wahine Volleyball Classic in Honolulu.

The first set was tied at 19-19 but the Dons scored three points in a row, all on kills by outside hitter Jocelyn Levig, who finished with a match-high 20 kills at a .333 hitting percentage. The Bears scored the next two points on a kill by freshman Nikki Gombar and an ace from setter Joan Caloiaro. But the Dons went on to close out the set.

Cal never held a lead in the second set but managed to tie it 18-18. USF once again scored three points in a row to break the deadlock, and the Bears never got closer than to within two again.

After the third set was tied early on at 10-10, the Dons took the lead and never relinquished it. It was three points in a row again by USF that broke the tie to make it 13-10.

The Bears are back in action Wednesday when they open the Pac-12 season at Stanford. The match begins at 7 p.m. and airs on the Pac-12 Network.
