Brining opted to return for a fifth season, bringing a veteran presence to the Bears' backline...is Cal's best defender...tactically smart and has developed into a good communicator...excels at coming forward with the ball...has the talent to play at the next level in the WUSA.

CAL:2002: One of four Cal players to start all 21 games...tallied the game-winning goal in Cal's 4-2 win at Penn and had assists in the Bears' victories over Oregon and Arizona...honorable mention Academic All-Pac-10 choice...co-recipient with Carly Fuller of the Coaches' Award.

2001: After seeing most of her time in the midfield in 2000, started in central defense as a sophomore...played in all 21 games and made 20 starts...scored her only goal in Cal's 4-0 season-opening win vs. Pacific.

2000: Played in 20 games at outside mid, including nine starts...only goal was the game winner in a 4-0 victory over Oregon...named honorable mention Academic All-Pac-10.

1999: Redshirted after playing in only two games.

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Selected MVP of the Marin Athletic League in 1999 at Redwood HS and of her club team, the Davis Sidekicks, in '98...helped lead the Sidekicks to the regional semifinals in '99...environmental sciences major...parents are David and Molly Brining...born June 30, 1981 in St. Louis, MO.
