Pivnick is undoubtedly the Bears most productive player when healthy...anchors the Cal defense from her central back position...according to Coach Boyd, she's one of the rare defenders with a great technical and tactical understanding of the game...Cal's most dangerous ball striker in set piece situations...able to get forward on the attack, as she's a converted midfielder.
CAL: 1999: For the first time in her Cal career, Pivnick made it through a season without an injury...started all 21 of the Bears games as a central defender...she and Natalie Stuhlmueller were the only two players to start all of Cal's games...tallied four points on one goal and two assists...her goal came in Cal's 6-2 rout of Washington State...named Cal's Defensive MVP and to the Cal Invitational and Golden Gate Classic all-tournament teams...earned second team Academic All-Pac-10 recognition.
1998: Appeared in 15 matches, including seven as a starter...finished fourth on the team in scoring with a career-high 10 points on 4 goals and 2 assists...netted her first career goal vs. BYU...found the back of the net again in the next match against SMU...best collegiate outing may have come vs. Oregon, when she scored two goals and was named Pac-10 Player of the Week; her first goal in the 90th minute, sending the contest into overtime, and she then tallied the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 93rd minute.
1997: A medical redshirt in 1997, she saw action in only one match, posting an assist in Cal's 1-0 win over UCSB...suffered an ankle injury the following week and missed the remainder of the season. 1996: Appeared in eight matches and was a starter in seven for the Bears during her freshman season...had earned a starting spot, but playing time was limited by injury (left femur stress fracture)...recorded 5 assists.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Named team MVP her sophomore and junior years at Chaminade Prep...selected to the 1994 ODP under-16 national team following her junior year, but a knee injury kept her out of competition...did not play for her high school team as a senior, as she continued to recover from knee injury...named to the L.A. Daily News first team All-Area team and the L.A. Times second team...also named Mission League offensive MVP as a junior...selected first team All-Mission League following her freshman and junior seasons...scored 22 goals with 15 assists in 21 games as a junior...also played volleyball in high school...American studies major...parents are Mark Pivnick and Nancy Bernard of West Hills...born Aug. 2, 1978 in Los Angeles.
