AS A JUNIOR (2007): Pitched in four contests, striking out three batters in 3.0 innings.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2006): Made 12 appearances, going 3-0 with a 7.50 ERA...had seven strikeouts in 12.0 innings...picked up wins in relief versus Sacramento State Mar. 21 (1.0 inning, two hits, two runs) and Stanford May 1 (1.0 inning, one hit), and in a start versus UC Davis Apr. 18 (2.0 innings, two hits, one run)...had a career-high three strikeouts in 1.1 innings Feb. 4 at UC Irvine...was honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic.
AS A FRESHMAN (2005): Saw action in four games, pitching 7.1 innings with seven strikeouts and a 2.45 ERA...threw a season-high 3.2 innings versus Stanford, allowing one hit with no earned runs.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Monte Vista High School was second-team all-league in 2003 and 2004...as a junior went 7-2 with 80 strikeouts in 78.7 innings...majoring in American studies...parents are David Tess and Amelia Thornton...born February 12, 1986 in Springfield, Ill.
