CALIFORNIA: Enters her first season as a defensive specialist/libero/outside hitter for the Golden Bears.

HIGH SCHOOL: At Granite Bay High School was Sacramento Bee All-Metro and Press Tribune All-Area first-team in 2005 and 2006, and the Press Tribune All-Area MVP in 2006...was also three-time all-league and two-time MVP...as a senior was first in California with 1,034 serves received, second with 688 kills, 10th with 120 service aces and 22nd with 495 digs...helped her high school to a San Joaquin Section title in 2004, her U16 Force Volleyball club team to a silver medal at the 2004 Junior Olympics, and her U18 Delta Valley club team to a bronze medal at the 2006 Junior Olympics...also was a member of a U15 National USA Soccer championship squad in 2003 and was an all-league long jumper and high jumper.

PERSONAL: Caitlyn Noelle Murphy was born August 23, 1988 in Sacramento, Calif....parents are Thomas and Victoria Murphy...father, Thomas, competed in track and field at both Cal Poly and Cal, and was a 7-1 All-American high jumper in 1976...he attended Cal's School of Optometry...has three older sisters - Elizabeth, Jillian and Jennifer...has not declared a major, but is interested in psychology.
