Rode enters her freshman year at Cal as a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year from New Mexico...confident shooting guard who brings out the best in her teammates...may see time at small forward, as well...shows a great understanding of the game...excellent floor leader with great range on her shot...great three-point shooter with NBA range...handles the ball well and is a great passer...knows how to create her own shot and knows how and when to pass...spends lot of extra time working on her game...had knee surgery at the beginning and end of her senior season but her work rate has allowed her to recover quickly...expected to be ready by the start of the season.

High School: Named the Gatorade Player of the Year as a sophomore and senior at Rio Rancho High School...as a senior, averaged 19 points, six assists and three steals per game...three-time all-state and all-metro honoree and a four-time all-district choice...as a senior, named the 5A state player of the year and the Albuquerque Tribune Player of the Year...started and starred at Rio Rancho for five years because she joined the program as an eighth-grader...helped her high school to five state tournament appearances, including three trips to the semifinals...as a senior, her team lost in the semifinals in double overtime by one point...as a junior, averaged 19.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game...as a sophomore, earned her first Gatorade Player of the Year honor and was selected an honorable mention Street & Smith All-American after averaging 14.8 points and 4.3 assists per game...holds the school records for career scoring (just shy of 2000 points), three-pointers made, free throws made and is second in assists and steals...chose Rio Rancho because her mother, Charlotte, had a stellar career of her own under Bob McIntyre at St. Pius X High School in the 1970s...Brio commuted 50 minutes to school each way...the school's first player to reach 1000 points...scored 41 points in the 2004 East-West All-Star Game, earning MVP honors.
