Cal Adds Auburn, 3 Others to Future Schedules

BERKELEY – Continuing with its goal of adding high-profile out-of-conference opponents to its future schedules, California announced Monday that it will play Auburn in a home-and-home series in 2019 and 2020, marking the first time the schools will meet in football.

The Golden Bears will visit Auburn on Sept. 21, 2019, with the Tigers set to play at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium on Sept. 19, 2020.

Last year, Auburn finished 12-2, captured the SEC championship and was the runner-up to Florida State in the national title game. The Tigers won the national championship in 2010 when they posted a 14-0 record and edged Oregon, 22-19, for the crown. Entering this weekend's action, Auburn is 6-1 overall and ranked fourth in the Associated Press poll.

In addition to the contest against Auburn, Cal will add three other home games to its schedules – South Dakota on Sept. 3, 2016, Weber State on Sept. 9, 2017, and Idaho State on Sept. 15, 2018.

“Over the past several years, we have been able to add several new opponents to our schedules that we believe our fans will enjoy seeing and our team will be excited to play,” Interim Director of Athletics Mike Williams said. “As a traditional power from the Southeastern Conference, Auburn certainly fits that description and provides us another opportunity to face a school with a strong national profile.”

Among other non-conference opponents on Cal's upcoming schedules are Texas and San Diego State, both for the 2015 and 2016 campaigns. Next fall, San Diego State will travel to Berkeley Sept. 12, while the Bears will visit Texas Sept. 19. In 2016, the Longhorns will make their first trip to Berkeley since 1969 and the Bears will take on the Aztecs in San Diego.

In addition, Cal begins a two-game series with North Carolina in 2017 (at UNC Sept. 2, 2017; at Cal Sept. 1, 2018) and starts a series with TCU in 2020 (at Cal Sept. 5, 2020; at TCU Sept. 11, 2021).

Cal's complete 2015 schedule can be found here, while full schedules for future years will be announced by the Pac-12 Conference at later dates.
