BERKELEY – Senior outside hitter Christina Higgins had nine kills and sophomore libero Maddy Kerr registered 15 digs but the Cal volleyball team fell to No. 11 Oregon 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 on Sunday at Haas Pavilion.

Sophomore middle blocker Jenelle Jordan added six kills and four blocks for the Bears (8-6, 0-4 Pac-12). Sophomore setter Alyssa Jensen handed out 27 assists.

The Ducks (13-1, 3-1) led throughout the first set, although Cal was as close as 15-13 before Oregon pulled away. The Bears got off to a strong start in the second set, jumping out to a 4-1 lead and 10-7 advantage. But Oregon scored four points in a row to take the lead, and the set remained close until the Ducks opened up a 22-18 advantage. After a timeout, the Bears scored three in a row to cut the deficit to one, but the Ducks answered with three in a row themselves to take command.

The third set was tied at 16-16 before the Ducks (13-1, 3-1) scored four points in a row. Cal answered with three points in succession of its own, but Oregon pulled away again to win the set.
