Cal Defeats Arkansas, 4-3, in Game One

BERKELEY - Cal baseball, led by the pitching of seniors Kyle Porter and Trevor Hildenberger, and the hitting of senior designated hitter Devon Rodriguez, defeated No. 24 Arkansas, 4-3, in game one of a doubleheader Sunday (March 9) at Evans Diamond.

With the win, the Bears improved to 9-5, while the Razorbacks dropped to 8-4.

Left-hander Porter improved his record to 2-0, throwing 5.2 innings with four hits, one unearned run with two walks and three strikeouts. Hildenberger earned his fourth save of the season, throwing 3.0 innings with two hits, two runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

Offensively, Rodriguez had a key two-run double in the third inning and had a bases loaded walk in the seventh inning. Junior Derek Campbell had an RBI single in the first inning for the Bears.
