Cal MWP Powers Past Santa Clara, 19-4

STOCKTON, CALIF. – Led by three goals apiece from junior Colin Mulcahy and freshman Luca Cupido, the No. 4-ranked Cal men's water polo team got off to a good start by powering past Santa Clara, 19-4, Saturday morning in the first round of the Kap7 NorCal Classic in Stockton. With the win, Kirk Everist's squad improved to 6-0 and will next face the winner of the Long Beach State-Pepperdine match at 5:20 p.m. Saturday.

Sophomore goalie Lazar Andric also paced the Golden Bears with six saves, while offensively Cal had a balanced attack with 12 different players scoring.

Other top scorers for the Bears included sophomore Farrel South, sophomore Chandler Jarrels-Stickney and freshman Pedro Stellet with two goals apiece.

Cal has outscored its opponents, 105-38, so far this season with four victories at the Triton Invitational in San Diego, and a 17-7 win over UC Davis last weekend at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
