Five Bears Score in Double Digits as Cal Outlasts USC, 67-53
LOS ANGELES - Five different Golden Bears hit double figures scoring for the first time this Pac-12 season as California ran away with a 67-53 win over USC Friday night at the Galen Center.
Reshanda Gray led the Bears with 15 points and added nine rebounds while Brittany Boyd and Mercedes Jefflo each added 12 points. Gabby Green added 10 and Mikayla Cowling scored nine of her 11 in the second half as the Golden Bears went from a one-point lead at halftime (27-26), to a 14-point victory.
The win improves California (13-5) to 5-2 in Pac-12 play for sole possession of fourth place in the standings. USC falls to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in Pac-12 play.
Alexyz Vaioletama led the Women of Troy with 15 points.
The Bears were outrebounded 46-35 in the game, but the Bears held USC to their lowest shooting percentage of the season (20-of-66, .303) to coast to the win in the second half. On their end, California shot 51 percent from the field.
The Bears close out their run in SoCal when they face UCLA on Sunday, Jan. 25. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m., and will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
