Griswold Earns Second Defensive POW Nod

BOSTON -- For the second time in three weeks, redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kori Griswold is the America East's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Griswold tallied four saves in Cal's 1-0 conference victory over UC Davis, marking her first collegiate complete-game shutout. Her defensive effort included stopping a last-minute extra-man effort from the Aggies, who subbed out their goalkeeper in favor of an extra offensive player to try to tie the game up. As UC Davis drove toward the cage, Griswold cleared the ball out of the circle so her offense could take over and keep the clean sheet.

Griswold has 62 saves on the season for a .729 save percentage and a 2.14 goals against average through more than 750 minutes in goal. She earned her first career Defensive Player of the Week nod on Sept. 21 after a seven-save performance in Cal's 2-1 overtime win at Stanford.

The Golden Bears (7-4) are set for two games in Stockton, Calif. this weekend, starting with UMass Lowell on Oct. 10 and Pacific on Oct. 11. Both games begin at 2 p.m.
