LAS VEGAS -- Freshman Kristine Anigwe's first collegiate double-double wasn't enough to lift  No. 16 Cal women's basketball past No. 10 Texas A&M as the Aggies handed the Golden Bears their first loss of the season, 75-58, at the South Point Shootout hosted by the South Point Hotel and Casino. The loss snapped Cal's four-game win streak to push Cal's record to 4-1 in 2015-16.

Anigwe (8-15) scored a career-high 23 points and added 12 boards in the loss. She was the only player in double figures for the Bears, followed by nine points from junior KC Waters (4-4), who notched all her points in the last eight minutes of the game. Cal gained seven points apiece from junior Courtney Range (3-7) and sophomore Mikayla Cowling (1-5) and sophomore Penina Davidson (3-5) chipped in six points and six rebounds off the bench.

After a closely played first quarter that ended with Cal down 18-17, Texas A&M outscored the Bears 20-7 in the second period to take a 38-24 lead into halftime, marking the second game of the season in which the Bears trailed at halftime.

The Aggies opened up the third quarter with a 14-4 run to take a 52-28 lead midway through the period and would lead by as much as 27 points in the game.

The Bears did not go down without a fight as Cal rallied late, cutting the lead to 16 points with just under two minutes left in the game and outscoring Texas A&M 22-16 in the fourth quarter.

Texas A&M took advantage of 22 turnovers by Cal, scoring 26 points off turnovers and four fast-break points.

The Bears went to her early and often, with Anigwe scoring 10 points in the opening period thanks to post ups and finishes off the pick-and-roll.

The Aggies were led by Courtney Williams (14-24), who scored 22 of her game-high 32 points in the first half. Courtney Walker (7-12) finished with 18 points.

The Golden Bears outrebounded Texas A&M 36-27, but were held to 42 percent shooting from the field, compared to 50.8 percent shooting by the Aggies.

The Bears are now 1-1 against top 25 opponents this season.
