Cal Tops UC Irvine, 10-3, For Game One

BERKELEY - Cal pounded out 16 hits, including a pair of home runs by sophomore third baseman Lucas Erceg for a 10-3 win over UC Irvine in game one of a doubleheader Saturday at Evans Diamond.

Erceg finished the game 4-for-4 with two RBI. Junior right fielder Devin Pearson had two spectacular catches during the game and hit a solo home run in the first inning. Senior Chris Paul was 2-for-4 and had a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Junior right-hander Ryan Mason earned the win, throwing 5.0 innings with four hits, two runs, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout. Senior left-hander Chris Muse-Fisher earned the save, throwing the final 4.0 innings with four hits, one run, one walk and three strikeouts.
