Cal Earns Sixth Straight Win Behind Green?s Career-High

TUCSON, Ariz. – Freshman Gabby Green had a career-night Friday to lead the Bears to their 17th consecutive victory over Arizona with a 65-46 win at the McKale Center.  

Green scored a career-best 18 points while adding seven assists, five rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot as California (17-5, 9-2 Pac-12) continues to roll with its sixth consecutive win since dropping a 67-52 game against Arizona State in Berkeley.

Reshanda Gray added 17 points on a 7-of-9 shooting effort along with three of California's season-high 10 blocked shots. Brittany Boyd also shot 7-of-9 from the field to finish with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Arizona (8-14, 1-10 Pac-12) was led by Candice Warthen's 17 points, 13 of which came after halftime.

The game remained close for the opening minutes with Cal holding a 12-8 lead with 14:46 remaining in the first half before the Golden Bear defense put the game away. Cal proceeded to hold the Wildcats without a field goal for the next 10:09, building their lead to 17 points before Warthen's shot with 4:35 left before halftime cut the score to 25-12.

Cal took a 33-16 lead into halftime, marking the second consecutive game that the Bears held their opponent under 20 points at the break. Arizona shot just 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from the field in the first half.

The Bears increased their lead to as many as 26 points in the second half in coasting to their sixth consecutive victory.

California takes on No. 10 Arizona State this Sunday in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU at 1 p.m. (PT).
