Cal Sweeps Kansas State With 9-1 Win
BERKELEY – Led by the solid pitching of freshman left-hander Matt Ladrech and a five-run first inning, the Cal baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Kansas State Monday at Evans Diamond. With the win, the Golden Bears have won seven of their last eight games to improve to 8-3. The Wildcats dropped to 4-7.
Cal won Saturday night's contest versus Kansas State, 4-2, and Sunday's game, 6-2.
Ladrech went 7.0 innings with seven hits, one run, one walk and two strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the year. Cal had its first six batters reach base in the first inning off of Kansas State starter Corey Fischer (1-1) with five of those batters scoring. Sophomore center fielder Aaron Knapp paced the Bears' hitting attack, going 3-for-5 and junior right fielder Devin Pearson was 2-for-4 with a double.
Cal will next host San Francisco on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. at Evans Diamond, before hosting Chicago State in a three-game non-conference series, March 6-8 at Evans Diamond.
