FRESNO, CALIF. – Homers by junior designated hitter Mitchell Kranson and senior third baseman Chris Paul gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 lead, but Fresno State came back to score six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 7-2 win Wednesday night in Fresno. With the loss, Cal drops to 18-6 overall entering this weekend's three-game Pac-12 series at Utah in Salt Lake City.

Down 1-0, Kranson tied the contest with his first home run of the season, a shot to right field in the second inning. Kranson also had a double to right center in the fourth inning. Paul then gave the Bears a 2-1 advantage with a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning.

But, Cal yielded a two-run double, had a fielding error and a three-run homer to the Bulldogs (15-11) in the seventh to lose the lead.

The losing pitcher for the Bears was freshman right-hander Erik Martinez, who dropped to 1-1, throwing 2.2 innings with three hits, two earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

David Esquer's squad will look to rebound when it takes on Utah in three contests shown of the Pac-12 Networks. Game times are 6 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday, 5 p.m. MT on Saturday and 3 p.m. MT on Sunday.
