BERKELEY - Led by a two home run, eight RBI day by junior left fielder Brian Celsi, the Cal baseball team upped its record to 10-3 with a 21-3 victory over Chicago State Friday night at Evans Diamond.

Celsi's eight RBI tied a school record for single RBI in a game with three other former Bear stars - Dan McInerny, Brian Horwitz and Brett Jackson.

The Golden Bears pounded out 22 hits with two home runs by Celsi and a home run from junior right fielder Devin Pearson. Sophomore center fielder Aaron Knapp hit a triple on the evening while Pearson and sophomore third baseman Lucas Erceg each had two doubles. Senior first baseman Chris Paul and junior catcher Mitchell Kranson also doubled for Cal.

bbThe winning pitcher for the Bears was sophomore right-hander Daulton Jefferies, who improved his record to 3-1 by throwing 7.0 innings with five hits, three runs, one earned run, two walks and six strikeouts.
Cal will play the second game of the three-game series Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. Sunday's contest has been moved from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m.
