SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Networks will broadcast 16 California women's basketball games for the 2015-16 regular season, including 14 of Cal's 18 conference contests. The Pac-12 conference released the league's schedule as well as game times and television information Monday.
The network will air eight Golden Bear home games from Haas Pavilion and eight road games in addition to televising the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament March 3-6 from Key Arena in Seattle. Every game of the conference tournament will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks, with the exception of this championship final, which will air live on ESPN.
Fans around the country will get their first look at head coach Lindsay Gottlieb's latest squad with a primetime matchup on Dec. 12 as the Bears take on Nebraska for the first time in program history. Those venturing to Haas Pavilion for the contest get an added bonus with the first of two women's and men's basketball doubleheaders of the season as Cal men's basketball takes on Saint Mary's earlier in the day.
Cal's rare nonconference matchup with UCLA at Haas Pavilion on Dec. 21 will also be televised, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. UCLA is one of the two Pac-12 teams, alongside USC, that the Bears will not host at home for conference play. The Bears will host both Washington and Washington State but will not travel to either school's campus this year.
The Bears open conference play on the road at Arizona State on Jan. 2. Only four of Cal's conference games will not be televised – away games at Utah (Jan. 10) and Oregon (Jan. 17), and home games against Arizona State (Feb. 12) and Oregon (Feb. 26).
A six-game Bay Area homestand highlights Cal's conference schedule, which will see the Bears host Washington State (Jan. 29) and Washington (Jan. 31) before playing the annual Battle of the Bay Feb. 2 at Stanford and Feb. 5 at home. The six-game stretch wraps up with Arizona State (Feb. 12) and Arizona (Feb. 14).
Cal closes out the regular season at home against Oregon State at 11 a.m. on Feb. 28 in the second of two doubleheaders with men's basketball, with head coach Cuonzo Martin's Bears slated to take on USC at 5 p.m. in Berkeley.
Season tickets for women's basketball will go on sale in the coming weeks, with prices starting as low as $27 ($1.59 per game, 17 games) for youth and seniors and $84 ($4.94 per game, 17 games) for adult general admission tickets. Single-game tickets will be available for purchase in October, starting at $3 for youth and seniors and $8 for adults. Gottlieb enters her fifth season at the helm for the Bears, with two returning starters in sophomores Mikayla Cowling and Gabby Green. Cal also returns experienced veterans in junior Courtney Range and KC Waters, plus sophomore Penina Davidson. The latest Bear squad also features five newcomers expected to make immediate contributions to Cal's young but talented roster.
