BERKELEY - The 2016 softball season might still be a few months away but Cal fans will get a chance this October and November to see what might be in store for the year ahead as the Bears will host 10 fall games at Levine-Fricke Field, head coach Diane Ninemire announced Friday.

Fall action begins Oct. 11 when Cal State Monterey Bay and West Valley Junior College pay a visit to Strawberry Canyon. West Valley and Cal State Monterey take the field at 10 a.m., Cal plays Monterey Bay at 12:30 p.m. and the final game of the day starts at 3 when the Bears take on West Valley.

The schedule resumes two weeks later when Cal hosts a doubleheader against Cal Poly on Oct. 24. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. with the second game to follow immediately after the conclusion of the first. The next day, Sacramento State and Santa Clara come to town with the Hornets and Broncos kicking off play at 10 a.m. Cal plays Sacramento State at 12:30 and wraps up the day against Santa Clara at 3.

Nov. 1 will be the final day of fall competition for the Bears as UC Davis and San Francisco State come to town. The Aggies and Gators get started at 10 a.m., Cal hosts UC Davis at 12:30 and the Bears and Gators close out the action at 3.

In her 29th season at the helm, Ninemire welcomes back a talented squad that includes two players in Jazmyn Jackson and Kobie Pettis who spent the summer with the USA Junior National Team as well as one of the team's newest additions, junior Annie Aldrete, who played with the USA National Team. The fall campaign will also mark the debut of nine new Bears, including Aldrete's former teammate at Tennessee and 2014 All-SEC freshman team honoree Taylor Koenig, who will see their first game action on Levine-Fricke Field.

Admission to all fall games is free.
