BERKELEY -- After rallying to a 1-1 record on the road last weekend, Cal field hockey returns to the Bay Area for a pair of games against two tough America East West Division opponents. The Golden Bears take on Pacific at Pacific Field Hockey Turf in Stockton on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. to start the weekend. On Sunday, Cal heads to the Farm to play Stanford at 1 p.m.

Pacific will offer a free live stream of Friday's game at PacificTigers.com, and Sunday's contest with the Cardinal will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network. Live stats for each game will be available at PacificTigers.com and GoStanford.com, respectively.

FAST FACTS

• This week, Lexi Collins and Katrina Carter earned the first America East weekly honors of their career. Collins was voted Defensive Player of the Week, and Carter earned the Rookie of the Week award.

• Cal's new points leader is Melina Moore. After tallying a goal and an assist against Vermont, Moore's three-point game brought her to 13 points on the season.

• Janaye Sakkas is one goal away from matching her season-high total of seven that she set as a freshman.

• Cal's penalty shootout with Stanford was its first since the Bears lost to Pacific, 2-1, in a stroke-off on Oct. 28, 2015.

• UOP is outscoring opponents 72-28 and has 73 total assists this season.
• Marguerite van Wyk leads the Tigers with 41 points on 15 goals and 11 assists.
• Ash Rutherford owns a team-leading 12 assists, and Emma Leach has 11 assists.
• Savannah Burns has 13 goals and nine assists for 35 points, and Alicia Muinos has 10 goals and three assists for 23 points.
• Rylee Comeau has eight goals and Ali Campos has 7.
• Laura Pujade has 14 starts in goal for a total of nearly 950 minutes. Pujade has allowed 27 goals with 41 saves and one shutout.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL

• Series: Cal leads, 52-51-5
• Phoebe Crosthwaite and Sarah Helgeson scored for the Cardinal in Cal's last meeting with Stanford.
• Helgeson has 11 points on four goals and three assists this season.
• Jessica Welch leads with five goals.
• Kelsey Bing has allowed 14 goals for a 1.16 goals against average. She has 38 saves and three shutouts.
• Stanford is outshooting opponents 160-116 but only leads 16-12 in goals.

AMERICA EAST ACCOLADES

Lexi Collins and Katrina Carter earned their first weekly conference honors of their career following Cal's weekend against its America East Eastern Division opponents. Collins was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Carter was voted Rookie of the Week. 

Collins, a member of Cal's backfield, stepped up to play goalkeeper when the Bears' only traveling goalie, Kori Griswold, suffered an injury in Saturday's contest.She notched three saves with zero goals allowed in 46 minutes of action despite never playing goalie before.
 
Carter, who made her Cal debut this season after rehabbing from surgery her freshman year, tallied her first career game-winning goal in the win over the Black Bears. She is third among the Bear squad with eight points on three goals and two assists this season.

ONSTEAD ON THE WEEK AHEAD

On matchups:
"We're going to see Pacific twice in the next two weekends. We're eager to get out there and have a go at it.  Playing Pacific and Stanford in the same weekend is a pretty good conference weekend. Given that the whole conference lead is up in the air, I think we have a really good chance to prove ourselves this weekend."

On playing in Stockton, site of the 2016 America East Tournament:
"It'll be good experience to set up for the conference tournament and continue to get familiar with the venue. They do a nice job hosting."

Cal wraps up regular-season road action at UC Davis on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m., before the home finale against Pacific on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. on Underhill Field.
