Bakersfield is coming off a 77-62 loss to Oregon Friday night in Eugene. The Roadrunners led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter, but were outscored 44-24 over the second and third periods combined to fall to 1-2 on the season. LAST TIME OUT
A second-quarter surge saw the Cal Women's Basketball team down UC Riverside 71-56 on Friday afternoon in Cal's third annual "School Haas Rock". The event attracted more than 3,000 elementary and middle school students from across the Bay Area.
Anigwe led the way with 28 points and 12 rebounds, her second consecutive game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds, and the 13th such game of her career. Cowling added 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, as the Bears improved to 3-0 on the season.
Cal's shooting was on display as the Bears connected on 10 three-pointers, just the fourth time in the last two seasons making double-digit threes. Cowling went 4-5 from beyond the arc, matching her career high for three-pointers in a single game, while Range went 3-6 from downtown, finishing the day with 12 points.
The Bears' stingy defense held the Highlanders to just eight points in the second quarter, the fewest Cal has allowed in any quarter all season, and kept its opponent below 60 points for the second consecutive game.

The Bears will wrap up their five-game homestand over the Thanksgiving weekend, hosting the 38th edition of the Cal Classic. Cal will face East Bay Rival San Francsico on Friday, November 25, at 1 p.m. That game will be followed by a 3:15 p.m. tilt between Western Carolina and Duquesne.
