Bears Prepare For Top-25 Clash
TEMPE, Ariz. – Coming off a win at Arizona on Thursday night, the No. 21 Cal women's basketball team (13-0, 1-0 Pac-12) looks to remain perfect in Pac-12 play, facing No. 18 Arizona State (9-3, 0-1 Pac-12) at 2 pm PT on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena. These teams last met in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Pac-12 Tournament, with the 10-seed Golden Bears pulling off the biggest upset in tournament history, beating the 2-seed Sun Devils, 75-64.
The Bears kicked off Pac-12 play in victorious fashion, beating Arizona 74-64, on Thursday night in Tucson to improve to 13-0 on the season. With the win, the Bears snapped a 10-game road losing streak in conference play and now hold sole possession of the second-longest win streak in program history. Senior Courtney Range led the Bears with 17 points while junior Penina Davidson registered her first career double-double with 12 points and a personal-best 14 rebounds. Kristine Anigwe, the reigning Pac-12, ESPNW, and USBWA Player of the Week, had her third consecutive double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Asha Thomas added 11 points of her own.
The No. 18 Sun Devils are 9-3 on the season, falling to No. 13 Stanford, 64-57, Friday afternoon in Tempe. Arizona State's loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Sun Devils and ended their 11-game home win streak in conference play. Senior forward Sophie Brunner leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 11.9 points per game, and had 15 points and nine rebounds in Friday's loss to the Cardinal. Arizona State went 16-2 in conference play last season, sharing the regular-season title with Oregon State.

A LOOK AT THE SUN DEVILS
Defending Pac-12 regular-season co-champion Arizona State is 9-3 on the season and 0-1 in Pac-12 play. The Sun Devils, ranked number 18 in the latest AP Poll, are coming off 64-57 loss to No. 13 Stanford on Friday to kick off conference play. Prior to Friday's defeat, Arizona State had not lost a conference game at home since falling to Cal on February 8, 2015, snapping an 11-game conference home win streak.
Senior forward Sophie Brunner leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 11.9 points per game. Brunner had 15 points and nine rebounds in the loss to the Cardinal while freshman guard Reili Richardson had a career-high 14 points.
Two-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year Charlie Turner Thorne is in her 20th season as head coach of the Sun Devils, leading Arizona State to a share of the Pac-12 regular season title last season and the program's highest seed ever in the NCAA Tournament (2 seed). The Sun Devils return three senior starters – Brunner, Quinn Dornstauder, and Kelsey Moos – from last season's team that went 26-7 overall and 14-3 at home.
Arizona State was picked to finish fourth this year in both the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches' and Media Polls. Both polls had Cal finishing sixth.

REBOUNDS FOR RAMA
Rama N'diaye, a member of the Cal Women's Basketball team from 2006-2011, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer this past July at the young age of 29. As a result of the side effects of her treatments, Rama has not been able to consistently work and therefore has sustained significant financial hardship.
It is our goal as a Cal Family to help support Rama in her fight against Breast Cancer emotionally, spiritually and financially. We've introduced Rebound for Rama to allow our extended Cal Family to participate in that end goal, once again proving that our support extends well beyond the hardwood. Donations may be made based on the number of total rebounds that the current Cal team secures over the course of this season or as a flat rate.
Visit www.pledgeit.org/ReboundsForRama to learn about Rama's fight and please consider joining us in this effort.
