Anigwe?s 30 Points Not Enough to Beat Buffs
BOULDER, Colo. – Freshman Kristine Anigwe poured in 30 points, her highest total in Pac-12 action, but the Golden Bears fell to the Buffaloes 78-57 in Boulder, Colo. to wrap up Pac-12 road action. The loss is Cal's first to Colorado in 10 meetings as Cal drops to 12-15 overall and 3-13 in conference play.

Anigwe (9-18) added 11 rebounds to her stat line for her 11th double-double of the season. The rookie also shot 12-15 from the charity stripe, moving into the top 10 in Cal's single-season records for free throws made with 142 this season. She entered the game with 130 free throws made.
Sophomore Mikayla Cowling logged 12 points for her 17th double-figure outing of the season.
The teams tied it up, 4-4, within the first minute of the game before Cal produced a 5-0 outburst to lead 11-6 at 7:35. Colorado pulled the game back with a 5-0 outburst of its own to take the lead. Cal tied it up with a pair of free throws from Anigwe, then took the lead on a layup and a three-pointer to lead 24-22 after the quarter. Anigwe scored 18 of Cal's 24 points, a single-quarter high for the rookie.
Colorado escaped with the lead in the second quarter as Cal turned the ball over six times in a five-minute span and shot 2-14 for the quarter. Kennedy Leonard scored 11 of the Buffs' 20 points. The Bears were limited to just seven points in the quarter and found themselves down to Colorado, 42-31, at halftime.
Anigwe led the Bears with 18 points at halftime, including eight on an 8-10 first-half performance from the free-throw line, while Leonard had 19 for her squad.
The Buffaloes drove their lead out to as many as 21 points halfway through the third quarter, while the Bears had just five points at the 4:56 timeout with Colorado leading 54-36. Cal managed another four points before the quarter's end, but another 10-minute stretch with the Bears scoring under 10 points set the Bears back 59-40 for the final stretch.
Cal only managed to pull the game back within 15 points in the fourth quarter, but the Buffs outscored the Bears 19-17 to seal the win. Leonard finished with 23 points, and Haley Smith led Colorado with 24 points.

Cal wraps up regular-season conference action in Berkeley. The Bears host Oregon on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and Oregon State on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.
