Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb

Opening Statement:

“I'm really excited to get the win tonight. I think our players earned the win. [Alleyne's injury is unfortunate], but that being said it's hard going into a locker room with a game plan for one player all week and look at your players and say 'Okay, scrap that idea and we're going to do something else.' I think our players were gamers for that. I thought they came out with great energy. I asked them to use their youthful energy which I think is a strength of ours but couple that with some veteran poise that maybe we haven't had all the time. They really did that coming out in the first quarter and just jumping on them using our athleticism and the way we like to play and then holding them off the rest of the game. Good night for us and hopefully we will carry it over into Sunday and then Seattle.”

On Jillian Alleyne:

“Just sad for Jillian Alleyne and sad for women's basketball that she's going to be out for the rest of the year. You get to know players when they're in the league and I think what she's done in her career is unbelievable. Stats-wise, she's going to be all over the record books for a long time. More importantly, sticking through tough things – it's hard to go through a coaching change, it's hard when you're not winning to stay with the program and help get them to a point of winning and making her mark on that program is going to do just as much as all those records. My heart hurts for her, but I'm also not worried about her because she's going to have a great pro career and she's going to bounce back.”

On going into the Pac-12 Tournament:

“We're expecting to put ourselves in a position to win that tournament. I would not be doing my job nor would they be who they are if we go up to Seattle saying we don't expect to win it, so everything we're doing up to that point is to earn that right to feel that way that we expect to win games. Why can't we in four games in four days? One matchup at a time. When we get to Seattle we're going to look at whomever we're playing and say 'Can we win this game,' and I think they're going to say 'Yeah, I think we can win this game.' That's going to be our mentality. Now up until that point we're still trying to become where we want to be at. We have to earn a right to be in a position to feel like we can win every game. This whole year has been about a process but down the stretch here we're not going to do anything but go down fighting and we're going to control everything we can control and try to be the story of March.”

Asha Thomas

On the two on one pass break plays that she had during the game:

“I like getting the ball to my teammates, whether it's simple or flashy. As long as I get it to them and they put it in the basket.

On her performance tonight:

“I just needed to be more aggressive, whether it's getting it into the paint or getting it to my teammates. Me personally, my coaches need me to be more aggressive on the floor.”

Mikayla Cowling

On the team performance tonight:

“I think we had a lot of energy this game. It's been tough the last couple weekends, but we knew that we needed to do something big with the tournament games and our following game and the games after that. This is a starting point for us to put all of our efforts and all of our energies together and play together and I think we did a fabulous job today.”
