Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb

Opening statement:

“First I want to congratulate Oregon State on a Pac-12 Championship. That's a legitimate top-10 team in the country. This team came in our gym three years ago and we were Pac-12 champs and a Final Four team and Jamie Weisner was a freshman and Ruth Hamblin was a freshman and they went there as a program and it was kind of in shambles and they decided to turn something around. While we want to win every game, to see what those kids have done and what Scott (Rueck) has done to put them in position to be a deep NCAA Tournament team is pretty neat. I want to congratulate them on that. Today I'm extremely proud of our team's effort. I told them in the locker room that I thought we grew up a lot today. I think it was the best all year of us executing a game plan and from the moment we were in practice yesterday there was a different feel in the air. You never know when things are going to click, but I thought our young players thought to themselves that they could get it done. I'm not worried or wishing that had happened sooner. I'm more excited that we saw some things today we hadn't seen all year and that's a really great place for us heading into the tournament. I thought the players executed the defensive game plan. Defense wasn't the issue. We struggled to score. Oregon State is a very good defensive team but I thought there was nothing that came up short with our effort. ”

Sophomore Forward Mikayla Cowling

On what 'clicked' today:

“I thought we all came out with a crazy amount of energy. I thought we were able to stay united throughout the entire quarters. We had spurts, as we have had in the past, but I think we've all grown up a little bit and we know where we want to go and be who we want to be and how we want to play every game. We want to talk all the time, be together all the time and never let up regardless of the outcome or situation of the game. And I thought tonight we played well as a team and we had some fun out there.”

On six consecutive points by OSU:

“They were some daggers but I feel we were still able to lock in and say to ourselves 'It's okay. They're going to hit some shots.' We knew they were going to score but we had to lock in regardless of how they were performing. It's a matter of how we perform together and how we respond to what they're doing.

Freshman Guard Asha Thomas

On what 'clicked' today:

“Today our team just clicked. We were very confident with each other and we trusted each other. And I feel as if we played our butts off.”
