The Bears (5-4) fell behind quickly to begin the match as the Tigers (6-5) reeled off the first four points. But Cal scored the next three. After a kill by Jordan trimmed the deficit to 6-5, UOP scored four in a row to start pulling away. The Bears never got within four points the remainder of the set.
The second set was the most competitive, as the Bears briefly led 5-4 and it was still tied later at 11-11. But the Tigers established some breathing room once again and took command of the match.
UOP jumped out to a 9-3 lead to begin the third set and led comfortably throughout.
The Bears are back on the court Saturday at St. Mary's at 7 p.m.
