BERKELEY -- California field hockey looks to get conference play off to a strong start on Sunday when the Golden Bears host UC Davis to kick off America East action. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on Underhill Field.

The Bears went 2-6 in their nonconference campaign, notching wins against Fairfield and Appalachian State on the road. Cal is looking for its first win at home with an improving offense that has scored two or more goals in three of the last four games. The Bears are also coming off a trip that saw three different Bears get their names on the stat sheet for the first time this year, as freshman Lindsay Mathison scored her first collegiate goal and assist, senior Sydney Earle notched a goal and sophomore Keats Iwanaga tallied an assist.
