AUSTIN, TEXAS --- A milestone goal from redshirt senior
Ifeoma Onumonu was the difference in No. 19 California's 1-0 victory over the Texas Longhorns Sunday morning at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The victory gives Cal (5-1) its fourth straight victory after starting the season with a split in its first two games.
A quick free kick and pass from redshirt junior midfielder
Kelly Fitzgerald set up Onumonu to nail the game-winning score from about nine yards out (68'). Onumonu now has 26 career goals, putting her solely in sixth all-time in Cal history, passing Winnie Burns (1985-88) and Andrea Rodebaugh (1984-87).
For Fitzgerald, her three game goal scoring streak came to an end but her assist helped transition into a four-game point streak.
Junior goalkeeper
Emily Boyd also made history by moving into a tie with Mary Harvey (1983-86) and Ashley Sulprizio (2002-05) for 4th place all-time in career shutouts as she notched her 20th as a Golden Bear. Boyd only needed two saves against Texas to set her new mark.
Cal took the game to the Longhorns early in the first half, taking the first four shots of the game within ten minutes. Texas (3-2) would eventually match the Bears in total shots after 45 minutes (six apiece) but Cal placed more pressure on Texas' defense, evidenced by its 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
However, as it has done in every game so far this season, the Bears won every statistical battle - shots (15-10), shots on goal (7-2) and corners (6-5).

Cal will play its final road game of the current stretch on Friday, September 9 at 1:30 p.m. PT against Saint Mary's in Moraga.
