BOULDER, Colo. – After trailing by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, the Cal women's basketball team burst back in the second half to defeat Colorado, 65-53, on Friday night at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colorado. With the win, the Golden Bears snap their three game losing streak and improve to 2-3 in Pac-12 play. The Buffaloes fall to 11-5 on the year and 1-4 in conference play.
Sophomore center
Kristine Anigwe scored 25 of her game-high 29 points in the second half, as the Bears bounced back from a sluggish first half in which they committed 13 turnovers and were held to a season-low 25 points.
Trailing 34-25 at the half, Cal came out of the locker room on a tear, opening the third quarter on a 17-0 run and holding Colorado without a field goal for the first 6:35 of the quarter. The Buffalos clawed back with an 11-2 run of their own, but
Mikayla Cowling drained a corner three to give the Bears a 49-46 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Cal continued to find Anigwe in the paint to start the fourth quarter, opening the period on a 9-0 run. Anigwe went 8-10 from the floor in the second half and finished the night a perfect 11-11 from the foul line, the best free throw performance of her career. The Wooden Award candidate grabbed 11 rebounds for her 12
th double-double of the season and sixth in the last seven games. Anigwe added four blocks, matching her career high.
Junior forward
Penina Davidson had eight points, eight rebounds, and a career-high six blocks for the Bears. Davidson's six blocked shots are tied for the most by any Cal player in the last 10 seasons.

Senior
Courtney Range added 10 points while Cowling dished out a season-high nine assists to go with eight rebounds and five points.
Colorado was led by sophomore Alexis Robinson's 18 points while sophomore Kennedy Leonard added 13 points and four assists for the hosts.
"This was a gut-check win for us," said Cal head coach
Lindsay Gottlieb. "On the stat sheet every win counts the same, but wins in this conference are hard to get, especially on the road."
The Bears will look to carry their momentum into Sunday, visiting Utah at 11 am PT. Sunday's game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks with Thad Anderson and Elise Woodward on the call. Utah is 12-4 on the season and 1-4 in conference play, coming off a 77-58 loss to No. 13 Stanford on Friday night. The Utes were picked to finish eighth in both the Pac-12 Preseason coaches and media polls.
