STOCKTON, Calif. -- Strong second-half adjustments weren't enough for California field hockey to erase an early deficit as the Golden Bears fell to Pacific, 3-2, Friday afternoon at Pacific Field Hockey Turf.

Lindsay Mathison scored her first goal of the season, and Megan Rodgers added the 14th goal of her rookie campaign to join Shellie Onstead (1981), Nora Feddersen (2002) and Ashley Glosz (2008) at 10th among Cal's single-season record holders for goals scored.

Katrina Carter assisted on both Mathison and Rodgers' goals, giving her four assists for the season and 12 points this season for the second-most among the Bears.

Pacific scored two first-half goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, outshooting the Bears 9-2 in the first half. The Tigers' leading scorer, Kriekie van Wyk, added another goal to her season total in the 11th minute, and Alicia Muinos scored in the 18th minute to give the home team early momentum.

Cal regained control of the game in the second half, outshooting Pacific 9-4 and earning a 4-2 advantage in penalty corners. Mathison scored in the 46th minute on a penalty corner, but before the Bears could add an equalizer, Emma Leach tallied the Tigers' third of the day.

The Bears pulled goalkeeper Danielle Mentink, who had six saves through 65:11, to make way for another offensive player, and Rodgers used the advantage to score in the waning seconds of the game at 69:44.

With the loss, Cal falls to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in America East play.
