California heads to Stanford for the 120th Big Game on Saturday. The Golden Bears are seeking their first win over Stanford since 2009 and are also one win away from becoming bowl eligible for the second time in three years after a previous three-year postseason absence.

The Big Game will always be known for "The Play", a five-lateral, 57-yard kickoff return through the Stanford Band that lifted Cal to a 25-20 victory over Stanford on the final play of the 1982 Big Game that  is considered by many to be the greatest play in college football history.

In Cal's most-recent game against Oregon State, Patrick Laird recorded career bests in rushing yards (214) and attempts (33). The 214 rushing yards rank 10th in Cal's single-game history and seventh best in the Pac-12 in 2017, while the 33 attempts are tied for second best in the Pac-12 this season. The 214 rushing yards were the most by a Cal player since Jahvid Best registered a school-record 311 against Washington in 2008.

Matt Anderson is now Cal's all-time leading scorer with 297 career points after surpassing Doug Brien during the Bears' most recent contest against Oregon State. In addition, Anderson has 54 career field goals and is also looking to pass Brien's career school mark of 56.

Cal is among the national leaders in several big play categories on defense with the Bears tied for eighth in turnovers gained (22), tied for 10th in defensive touchdowns (3), tied for 14th in interceptions (13) and tied for 19th in fumbles recovered (9).

Ross Bowers ranks 14th nationally in pass completions per game (22.70), 21st in passing yards (2615) and 25th in passing yards per game (261.5).

Kanawai Noa and Vic Wharton III have combined to haul in 100 receptions (53 for Wharton III and 47 for Noa).

Cal has been among the nation's top teams on fourth down on both sides of the ball, ranking tied for 15th nationally in fourth-down conversion percentage (14-21, 66.7%) and tied for 21st in fourth-down conversion percentage defense (6-15, 40.0%).

Cal is 4-0 when winning the turnover battle, 1-3 when losing it and 0-2 when even.

Cal is 3-1 when winning the combined turnover and explosive plays battle, 1-3 when losing it and 1-1 when even.
