Cal Inks Four
BERKELEY – California softball head coach
Diane Ninemire announced the addition of four talented newcomers for the 2018-19 class that all hail from the Golden State on Wednesday, National Signing Day.
"We have a strong battery coming in that will really give us an opportunity to compete," said Ninemire, in her 30th year at the helm of the Cal program. "They will fit in really well with our program with their competiveness and strength in multiple areas."
The incoming quartet, who each signed a National Letter of Intent, includes Makena Smith (Murrieta, Calif.), Alexandra Perez (Temecula, Calif.), Amani Bradley (Murrieta, Calif.) and Morgan Zamora (San Bernadino, Calif.).
"We bring in a diverse group that gives us flexibility because they can play anywhere on the field," Ninemire added. "I think that mattered a lot and the academics were a priority. They appreciate the opportunity to attend the No. 1 public university in the nation and also play for a nationally recognized program.
"We are very honored and pleased with this group. We look forward to them joining the Golden Bear team soon."
