BERKELEY – Keenan Allen continued his torrid streak and made history Sunday when he became the first NFL player to record three straight games of at least 10 receptions, 100 yards receiving and one touchdown catch. Allen set the record with 10 catches for 105 yards and one score in a 19-10 victory over Cleveland to highlight the performances by former Cal players in Week 13 of the league's slate. The victory was the Chargers' third in a row and moved them into a first-place tie with Kansas City and Oakland in the AFC West. Los Angeles has won six of eight overall after an 0-4 start.
Allen has combined totals of 33 receptions for 436 yards receiving and four TD catches during the Chargers' win streak while his 77 receptions on the season equal a career-high and his 1,032 yards receiving are 14 shy of the career-best 1,046 he recorded as a 2013 rookie.
Across town Jared Goff continued to lead the NFC West first-place Los Angeles Rams to victories. The Rams won at Arizona on Sunday to improve to 9-3 overall and clinch their first winning season since 2003. Goff completed 21-of-31 passes for 220 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the win. He now has 3,184 passing yards on the season with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. The win kept Goff and the Rams one game ahead of Seattle in the NFC West with a December 17 showdown between the teams in Seattle on the horizon after Goff and the Rams will host Philadelphia at the Los Angeles Coliseum in Week 14 of NFL action this Sunday.
Up in the Bay Area, Marshawn Lynch had arguably his top game of the season with 17 rushes for a season-high 101 yards including a 51-yard touchdown run that was his longest since 2014 in Oakland's 24-17 win over the New York Giants. The victory moved the Raiders into a first-place tie with the Chargers and Chiefs in advance of Oakland's visit to Kansas City this Sunday. Lynch is tied for sixth in the NFL with six rushing touchdowns on the season.
Stephen Anderson also had a notable game in a Houston Texans loss' at Tennessee, establishing an NFL career-high 79 yards receiving on five catches including his second career touchdown grab.
A total of eight former Cal players are on teams that currently have at least a share of a Division title with Allen, Goff and Lynch joined by
Tyson Alualu (Pittsburgh Steelers, 10-2, AFC North),
Cameron Jordan (New Orleans Saints, 9-3, NFC South), Mychal Kendricks (Philadelphia Eagles, 10-2, NFC East),
Brian Schwenke (Tennessee Titans, 8-4, AFC South co-leaders) and
Mitchell Schwartz (Kansas City Chiefs, 6-6, AFC West tri-leaders). Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have a share of the best record in the AFC and NFC, respectively.
