LINCOLN, Neb. -- No. 19 California women's gymnastics continued its scoring surge with the Golden Bears' highest road score of the season, a 196.400, to take second at the Masters Classic quad meet in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday afternoon. Cal finished behind host and No. 15 Nebraska (197.175), and ahead of No. 24 Utah State (196.200) and Southeast Missouri State (190.325).

Cal turned in its fourth-highest beam total in program history, a 49.275, to jump into second place in the final rotation. Sofie Seilnacht fueled the Bears with her career-high 9.925 for the beam crown. A Cal gymnast has won beam in six of eight meets this season.

On vault, Mariah Peterson continued her productive freshman season on the event with a 9.85 to finish as the runner-up. Peterson has hit all five of her vaults since she debuted on Jan. 28 against Arizona State, finishing in the top two twice this season. Cal logged a 49.050 on vault.

Emily Richardson's 9.875 led a 48.925 bars rotation for the Bears. Richardson logged Cal's second top three finish of the day, taking second on the event.

Cal saved its best for last and proved its balance beam prowess once again, scoring both a season-high and program top five score with a 49.275. Sofie Seilnacht shared the event title with her career-high 9.925, topping her previous record of 9.8875 set at the NCAA Championships last season. Richardson matched her season-high 9.85.

With their 196.400 team total, the Bears improve their Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) ahead of the final two weeks of the regular season. RQS will be used to determine both Pac-12 Championship and NCAA Regional seeding.
