BERKELEY – The Golden Bears are finally back in the lair.

To kick off a seven-game homestand, California hosts its South-Bay rival Stanford in a three games series this weekend after six consecutive road trips. Cal also welcomes back former players for the team's Alumni Weekend, with acknowledgements planned throughout the series-opener.

Golden Bear alum and Olympian Gillian Boxx is scheduled to throw out the first pitch on Saturday.

Opening the series Saturday at noon (PT), the 17-8 Bears look to extend their eight-game win streak against the 16-10 Cardinal. Cal hopes to also notch its third consecutive sweep against Stanford with wins in Sunday's noon and Monday's 3 p.m. (PT) matchups.

Games will be televised on the Pac-12 Network with live stats available on CalBears.com.

The Bears, who are 1-1 at home so far this season, look to go for .500 in Pac-12 play by end of the series with the Cardinal after suffering a 0-3 series against the third-ranked Oregon Ducks a week ago to open conference competition.

Despite scoring the first run in each contest against Oregon, Cal was unable to convert its offense into runs losing 5-1, 2-1 and 10-2 (5) in Eugene, Ore.

SCOUTING STANFORD
California leads the all-time series with Stanford 45-28 and has swept the Cardinal the last two seasons.

This weekend's games will be the conference opener for the Cardinal, who are coming off a 4-2 weekend at home where they hosted Grand Canyon, UConn, Lehigh and Cal Poly in the Stanford Easton Classic.

The Cardinal are lead at the plate by freshman Teaghan Cowles who is batting .446, with 24 runs and 22 RBIs, all team highs.

Bessie Noll, a senior, is also lethal offensively for Stanford averaging .419 at the dish and collecting 18 runs and 19 RBIs of her own.

Rounding out the Cardinal's .400-plus hitters is another freshman, Alyssa Horeczko (.400), who's posted 15 runs and a pair of RBIs in 20 appearances.

Collectively, the Cardinal has limited its opponents to .299 batting average and 114 runs, while recording a .386 average and 153 runs as a team.

Stanford boasts some offensive depth with six total members posting double-digit runs this season.

Sophomore Carolyn Lee tops the pitching corps for the Cardinal with a 2.63 ERA across 77.1 innings pitched and holds a 15-13 record in the circle.

Interestingly, Lee has a Golden Bear legacy as sisters Mary Lee (2012-2015) and Taylor Lee (2013) are both former Cal softball players.
