DAVIS, Calif.– The Cal women's soccer team bounced back from Friday's heartbreaking defeat to San Francisco, putting on an impressive performance in a 2-0 win over UC Davis on Sunday afternoon. Freshman

th minute and junior

th clean sheet of her career, extending her program record.
After being held scoreless in Friday's loss at San Francisco, Cal was aggressive in the attack from the opening whistle, outshooting UC Davis 12-2 in the first half and 23-6 overall on the afternoon. The Golden Bears tested the Aggies early and often, as seniors
Heather Walleigh and
Kelly Fitzgerald forced goalkeeper Alexis Smith into several nice saves in the opening minutes on strikes from distance. Cal broke in the 34th minute through when Clark one-timed a ball to Deza in the middle of the pitch. The rookie from Belmont, California fired a shot 25 yards out that beat Smith to the top left corner, giving the Bears a 1-0 advantage and Deza her first collegiate goal.
Cal continued to attack in the second half, creating opportunities from all over the field but unable to find the finishing touch. The Aggies had a dangerous chance to equalize in the final 10 minutes as Lauren Bouvia got in behind Cal's defense for a one-on-one with Boyd. The senior from Seattle, Washington came off her line well to cut down the angle and got a fingertip on the bouncing ball, forcing it over the bar for a corner.
The Golden Bears iced the game in the 89th minute when
Caroline Clark tracked down a turnover by the Davis defense and found Nild open in the 18-yard box. The junior calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner for her first goal of the season and the fourth of her career.
"Coming out of Friday, we knew we had to win this game," said Nild. "We were energized and focused. It was a great team effort today and we're happy to come out with the win."
