Bears Selected For World Championships
PRINCETON, N.J – The Cal women's rowing program will be well-represented in Florida this fall, as former Golden Bears Kendall Chase '16, Kara Kohler '14, and
Laurel Korholz '93 will represent the United States at the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida.
USRowing announced the final roster on Monday evening for the World Championships, which will be held from September 24 to October 1 at the newly developed Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton. The highlight of the 2017 international rowing campaign, this is the first time since 1994 that the World Rowing Championships will be hosted in the United States

A two-time Pac-12 Women's Rowing Athlete of the Year and NCAA Champion during her time at Cal, Chase will be competing in the women's four at the World Championships. The Colorado native led the U.S. to gold in this event at both the 2014 and 2015 Under-23 World Championships. Chase most recently competed for the U.S. at the 2017 World Rowing Cup II in Poznan, Poland, where she helped with women's 8+ to a third place finish.
Kohler will be competing in the quadruple sculls, the event in which she won bronze at the 2012 Olympics in London. A three-time All-American for the Golden Bears, this will be Kohler's third trip to the World Championships, winning gold in the four at the 2011 World Championships and finishing fifth in the quad sculls in 2013.
Rounding out Cal's contingent is Korholz, who will coach the women's quadruple sculls. An 11-time national team member and three-time Olympian as a competitor, Korholz replicated that success in the coaching ranks, leading the U.S. to gold in the quad sculls at the 2015 World Championships and bronze at the 2012 Olympics. A two-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection, Korholz will be inducted into the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 8, one of 10 Golden Bears in the Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
