DAVIS, Calif. -- With a win at UC Davis, California field hockey extended its win streak to the program's best in more than a decade. The Golden Bears edged UC Davis, 3-2, Friday afternoon at Aggie Field Hockey Facility to stretch their streak to six consecutive victories and a 7-3 overall record.
Â
Cal remains perfect on the road and in America East play, with a 5-0 record away from Berkeley and a 2-0 record in conference action.
Â
Megan Rodgers tallied her fourth multi-goal game of the season, scoring the Bears' first two goals, and
Melina Moore lifted the Bears past the Aggies with a successful penalty stroke.
Femke Delissen, ranked 31st in the country in assists per game (0.56) entering the contest, notched her sixth assist of the season.

The second-half featured more balanced action, and the Aggies capitalized to score goals in the 56th and 66th minutes. Moore's penalty stroke in between UC Davis goals at the 60th minute gave Cal the edge, and the Bears wrapped up their sixth consecutive win with a 22-6 shot advantage after forcing Aggie goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow and her defense to make 11 saves.
Â
Danielle Mentink and
Natalie Dalton shared time in the cage for the Bears, with Mentink making her 10th start of the season and Dalton finishing it up for the final 35 minutes.
HEAD COACH SHELLIE ONSTEAD'S TAKE
"Good to leave Davis with a win. We encountered what we expected, which was a stubborn team that fought hard to the end. We generated a lot of chances and will work on finishing the play this week. Our big weekend date with the Big 10 comes at just the right time and will help us in our last four conference games."
