BERKELEY – Recent California men's soccer graduates
Jose Carrera-Garcia and Josh Morton received invites to the 2018 adidas MLS Player Combine on Jan. 13, in Orlando, Fla., the league announced recently.
The Bear duo will participate with 58 other players that will be broken into four different teams and will play three games over a five-day stretch at Orlando City Stadium.
Carrera-Garcia finished his time at Cal earning NCAA All-Far West Region honors, after leading the Pac-12 with nine saves. Both, Morton and Carrera-Garcia were named to the all-conference list after guiding the Bears to their first post-season appearance since 2014.
"Jose and Josh had great careers here at Cal. Being invited to the MLS combine is always a special honor and opportunity as well," said head coach
Kevin Grimes. "We look forward to seeing Jose and Josh pursuing their goal of being professional players."
Both starters, Morton (Brentwood, Calif.) and Carrera-Garcia (Ontario, Calif.) combined for 3,051 playing minutes in 2017 as Cal finished second in the Pac-12 – its best finish since 2010.
