BERKELEY- California fell to the 18th-ranked Washington Huskies in three sets on Friday night at Haas Pavilion. The Bears were able to start off strong in the match, but ultimately fell to the Huskies in a tightly-contested showing ultimately determined by errors.

Maddie Haynes and
Bailee Huizenga led the Bears with eight kills apiece. The Bears posted a .429 hitting percentage in the first set, but were unable to sustain the efficiency to finish with a .293 clip. Cal was also unable to overcome 10 service errors and finishing behind in the kill count 48-38.
Setters
Isabel Potter and
Jade Blevins combined for 33 total assists for Cal (9-9, 1-6 Pac-12), each added a pair of aces to lead the Bears along with
Preslie Anderson. With the loss, Washington (13-4, 5-2 Pac-12) has beaten California in 11 straight matchups dating back to 2013.
"I felt like we did not compete as well as we could have tonight," head coach
Jennifer Dorr said after the match. "When we were clicking we looked really good, whether it was our serves, our offense, or defense."
"I'm hoping that this result will light a fire under us and we will look forward to the challenges ahead of us for Sunday's game."
The Bears return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. (PT) as they take on the Washington State Cougars at home.
