BERKELEY – After three home matches to start the conference slate, the Cal women's soccer team now takes to the road looking for its first win of the 2018 Pac-12 campaign. The Golden Bears (4-6-1, 0-3-0 Pac-12) will square off against Oregon State (1-10-0, 0-3-0 Pac-12) at 7 p.m. PT on Thursday before wrapping up the trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 1 p.m. matchup against Oregon (7-3-1. 1-2-0 Pac-12) on Sunday.
Following a pair of losses to Top-25 opponents USC and UCLA this past weekend, the Bears will look to get back in the win column away from home. Cal is 1-2-0 on the road this season, with losses at then-No. 19 Santa Clara and No. 21 Oklahoma State. The Golden Bears proved victorious in their last game away from Berkeley, coming from behind to beat Oklahoma, 2-1, on September 9. Cal went 3-3-0 on the road in conference play last season, picking up wins at Washington, Colorado, and Utah.
Thursday's match vs the Beavers marks Cal's first game in Corvallis since the 2013 season, with the Bears winning the last four meetings between the teams in Berkeley. Sophomore
Daisy Cleverley scored her first collegiate goal in Cal's 1-0 victory last season, heading home a free kick.
The Bears completed the sweep of the Oregon schools with a 3-0 victory over the Ducks on senior day. All three goal scorers from that game are back for the Bears this season, with
Abi Kim,
Miranda Nild, and
Mia Corbin returning for the Bears. Kim, a junior striker from Vashon, Washington, is tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals on the season while Nild has produced a pair of game-winning goals in her senior season. Corbin, a midfielder from Maple Valley, Washington, leads the Bears with three assists on the season.
While the Bears return several key contributors from last season, there are plenty of fresh faces in the Golden Bear lineup this season. There are 10 true freshmen on the Bears' roster this season, including a pair of Oregon-natives in
Sydney Collins and
Emma Treasure. Collins has started all 11 games for the Golden Bears this season at centerback and leads the team in minutes played while Treasure tallied her first collegiate goal in Cal's win at Oklahoma.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cal women's soccer team couldn't solve UCLA's high-powered offense on Sunday afternoon, falling to the 16
th-ranked Bruins, 4-0, at Edwards Stadium. Coming off a hard-fought overtime loss their last time out against No. 2 USC, the Golden Bears were held scoreless for the second consecutive game while the Bruins) scored twice in each half. Freshman goalkeeper
Amanda Zodikoff made a career-high eight saves in the loss, the most by any Cal goalkeeper this season. Anika Rodriguez scored twice for the Bruins while midfielder Viviana Villacorta finished with a goal and an assist.
"I think what we've learned from this weekend is the level of consistency required to compete at the highest level," said Cal head coach
Neil McGuire. "Our performance against USC was one of great energy and effort. Tonight's performance against a very talented UCLA team didn't match that."
Kim led Cal's offense with a pair of shots – both on target – while Zodikoff made several crucial saves in the first half. The freshman goalkeeper from Concord is averaging 4.8 saves per game this season, which ranks second in the Pac-12.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Oregon State enters the weekend looking to snap a five-game losing streak and pick up its second win of the season. The Beavers are winless to open the 2018 Pac-12 campaign, falling to No. 9 Washington State, 2-0, their last time out.
Redshirt freshman McKenzie Weinert leads the Beavers in scoring this year with two goals, including the game-winner in Oregon State's 1-0 win over Dartmouth.
True freshman Bridgette Skiba has started all 11 matches for the Beavers in goal, and currently leads the Pac-12 with 69 saves on the season.
Head coach Linus Rhode is in his 11
th season with the Beavers and is the program's all-time wins leader. Oregon State finished eighth in the Pac-12 last season, going 3-7-1 in conference play.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS
After opening Pac-12 play with a 1-0 win over Utah, Oregon looks to bounce back from getting swept on the road at Washington and Washington State. A perfect 6-0-0 at home this season, the Ducks host top-ranked Stanford at 5 p.m. PT on Thursday before Sunday's meeting with the Bears.
Oregon is led by senior forward Marissa Everett, who has six goals and an assist on the season. A Third Team All-Pac-12 selection in 2017, Everett is tied for fourth overall in the conference in scoring and is third in game-winning goals, with three so far this season. Freshman Zoe Hasenauer has also been a key contributor on offense, leading the Ducks with four assists on the year.
Defensively, redshirt senior Halla Hinriksdottir has started all 11 games, posting five shutouts on the season.
Head coach Kat Mertz is in her sixth season with the Ducks, and saw her squad open the year with a 6-1-1 record in non-conference play, highlighted by a 2-1 win over Portland.
NEXT UP
Cal continues its Pac-12 road trip next weekend, heading to Tucson for an October 13 matchup against Arizona. The Wildcats (8-2-1, 1-1-1 Pac-12) have won the last three head-to-head meetings with the Bears, including a 1-0 victory last season in Berkeley.
