Cal Beat Washington On Saturday For The First Time Since 2015

  • With today's 12-10 victory over Washington, the Golden Bears picked up their first victory over the Huskies since 2015, and their first win over Washington in Berkeley since 2008.
  • The last time Cal won a game without an offensive touchdown was on Sept. 26, 1998, when Cal defeated Washington State, 24-14, with three defensive touchdowns. 
  • The 10 points scored by the Huskies are their fewest this season after entering the game with an average of 28.6 points per game.
  • The victory also marks Cal's first win over a ranked opponent since beating then-No. 8/9 Washington State in Berkeley last year.
  • Cal did not commit a turnover for the second time this season (North Carolina).
  • The Cal defense entered tonight's game allowing an average of 320.9 yards of total offense and 24.0 points per game. Today, the Bears allowed 250 yards of total offense and 10 points.
  • Evan Weaver record his first career interception and returned it 37 yards for his first career touchdown in the third quarter.
  • Weaver's pick-six was the third this year for the Bears (Cameron Goode vs. North Carolina and Josh Drayden at Oregon State).
  • Weaver finished with 11 tackles, his sixth double-digit tackle performance of the season.
  • Cal won the turnover margin, 2-0. This season, the Bears are 3-0 win winning the turnover battle (North Carolina +4 and Oregon State +1).
  • Camryn Bynum notched his second interception this season and the fourth of his career. He also collected his team-leading seventh pass breakup of the year and 15th of his career.
  • Greg Thomas was 2-for-3 in field goals. It was the first time this season he made two field goals in a game
  • Alex Funches picked up a tackle for loss and a sack on Washington's first drive in the third quarter.
  • Jaylinn Hawkins' pass breakup was his first this season and the third of his career.
  • The seven points allowed in the first half are the fewest Washington has scored in a first half this year and it marks the fifth time this year that Cal has held an opponent to seven or fewer points in the first half. The three points allowed in the second half by Cal are the fewest the Bears have surrendered in the second half this season.
  • Cal and Washington each finished with 91 rushing yards, marking the third time this season and second in a row that the Golden Bears have a held an opponent under 100 yards rushing this season.
  • Cal held Washington to an opponent season-low 58 plays and an opponent season-low-tying 13 first downs.
