Evan Weaver Added To Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List
Junior Joins Fellow Cal Inside Linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk As Candidate For Prestigious Honor
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Cal junior inside linebacker
Evan Weaver has been added to the watch list for the Lott IMPACT Trophy the Pacific Club Impact Foundation announced Thursday. The award honoring Ronnie Lott is given annually to the college football defensive player who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym of Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
Candidates will be evaluated during the season with a Player of the Week chosen each week and the school of each weekly winner receiving $1,000 for its general scholarship fund. The four finalists will attend the Lott IMPACT Trophy Banquet on December 9 in Newport Beach with the school of each finalist receiving $25,000 for its general scholarship fund.
Weaver joins fellow Cal inside linebacker
Jordan Kunaszyk on the award's watch list. Kunaszyk was named to the original watch list of 42 players last May. The duo has combined for 33.8 percent (92-of-272) of the team's tackles in 2018 with Weaver's 53 leading the club while Kunasyzk is second with 39.

• Has started all four games as a 2018 junior and ranks fourth in the country with 7.3 tackles per game and fifth in total tackles with 13.3 per contest
• Has a team-high 53 tackles after starting his junior campaign with four consecutive double-digit tackle games including a career-high-tying 14 in both his most recent contest against Oregon and the 2018 season-opener against North Carolina while he had 12 at BYU and 13 against Idaho State
• Has added 1.0 tackle for loss (-2 yards), one quarterback hurry and four pass breakups as a junior
• Served as a game captain for the first time in his career as a junior against Oregon
• Has played in 27 of 28 possible games with nine starts over the past two-plus seasons since his arrival at Cal in 2016 and posted career totals of 124 tackles that rank him second on Cal's active career list, 4.5 tackles for loss (-12 yards), 1.5 sacks (-7 yards), six pass breakups and one quarterback hurry
