Bears Shut Out San Diego State, 2-0

SAN DIEGO – Freshman Taylor Davila recorded a goal and an assist and redshirt freshman Lucas Churchill registered his first career goal as the Cal men's soccer team defeated San Diego State 2-0 on Sunday.

Davila earned his second goal of the season in the 20th minute, one-timing a feed from Christopher Grey for a 1-0 Cal advantage. Davila then had the assist on Churchill's score in the 40th minute. It was Davila's third assist on the season, which puts him in a tie for the team lead.

The win marked the Bears' fourth shutout of the season – two of which have come against the Aztecs. Cal beat San Diego State 1-0 on Sept. 30.

Cal goalie Drake Callender made a season-high seven saves. He has recorded all four shutouts for the Bears this season.

Sophomore Tommy Williamson led Cal (6-9-2, 2-7 Pac-12) with three shots while leading scorer Shinya Kadono had two shots on goal.

Cal will close out the 2018 season Thursday at No. 6 Stanford. The match begins at 6 p.m. and will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
