121st Big Game To Kick Off At Either 4:30 Or 5 PM
Pac-12 Networks To Televise Stanford-Cal Matchup
BERKELEY – The Pac-12 announced Monday that the 121st Big Game at California Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 17, will kick off at either 4:30 or 5 pm PT and be televised live by the Pac-12 Networks. The exact kickoff time will be determined no later than Sunday.
Cal (5-4, 2-4 Pac-12) and Stanford (5-4, 3-3 Pac-12) are both currently one win shy of bowl eligibility with three games remaining on their schedules. Both have one game remaining prior to their annual meeting with the Golden Bears visiting USC (5-4, 4-3 Pac-12) and Stanford hosting Oregon State (2-7, 1-5 Pac-12) this Saturday.
The first Big Game was played in 1892, beginning a series that is tied for the sixth-longest active running series between Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams. Stanford holds a 63-46-11 all-time advantage and has a current winning streak of eight that is the longest by either team in the series. The streak includes a 17-14 win at Stanford Stadium in 2017 in their most recent meeting and a 45-31 victory the last time the teams played at California Memorial Stadium in 2016.
Cal's most recent Big Game victory came at Stanford Stadium in 2009 when the Bears were a 34-28 winner in a contest that featured Mike Mohamed's memorable game-saving interception inside of two minutes remaining at the Cal three-yard line and
Shane Vereen's performance rushing for 193 yards and a career-high-tying three rushing touchdowns on a career-high 43 carries. Cal equaled its longest win streak in the series with five straight victories from 2002-06 and won seven of eight from 2002-09.Â
The Big Game has featured some of the most memorable finishes in the history of college football with five contests being decided on the final play, including the famous 1982 Big Game that ended with Cal's five-lateral, 57-yard kickoff return through the Stanford Band for a touchdown that will forever be remembered simply as "The Play" giving the Bears an improbable 25-20 victory.
A total of 53 Big Game contests have been determined by one touchdown or less.
Radio broadcasts of all Cal football games can be heard live on KGO 810 AM, the Cal Bears Sports Network powered by Learfield, SiriusXM satellite radio andÂ
