Cal Downs Saint Mary’s 3-0
BERKELEY – No. 19 California (11-0) concluded a brisk day in Moraga, Calif., pulling in its fourth shutout of the season with a 3-0 display against Saint Mary's (0-11).
The Golden Bears' 11th consecutive win was less decorated than the past few with loads of hitting throughout the lineup, but the team's eight connections at the plate proved effective.
Junior
Lindsay Rood's RBI triple to bring
Jazmyn Jackson home highlighted the day and extended Cal's lead to 2-0 in the top of the third, before Rood was brought home on an RBI single from freshman
Mikayla Coelho to provide the final margin.
Freshman
Karlee Sparacino picked up the Bear's first run of the day in the top of the second after reaching on a fielder's choice. She made her way around the bases on a walk from
Taurie Pogue and then found the plate on an RBI single from fellow freshmen
Lauren Espalin.
Cal returns to Palm Springs for a five-game slate starting Friday with a doubleheader against North Carolina at 1 p.m. (PT) and sixth-ranked Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. (PT) in its first ranked matchup of the season.
