Former Bear Joins FC Cincinnati Staff
CINCINNATI – California men's soccer alum Luke Sassano joins the USL's FC Cincinnati staff as the club's Technical Director, announced the club on Wednesday.
Â
Sassano, who played for the Golden Bears from 2004-07, will oversee scouting, negotiations and player acquisition, and will be the point of contact for FCC with agents, club representatives, Major League Soccer, USL and USSF for all player transactions.
Â
"Luke's appointment as Technical Director of FC Cincinnati is a huge accomplishment for him. FC Cincinnati is currently one of the best professional soccer franchises in the United States," said Cal head coach
Kevin Grimes. "Their attendance and community outreach is second to none. This is a wonderful honor for Luke, and a great moment for Cal soccer, to have one of our own in such a prestigious position in professional soccer."
Â
An Orinda, California native, Sassano had a notable collegiate career with the Bears and earned All-Pac 10 honors in 2005 and 2007. He was drafted 32nd overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls
