Stanford Defeated Cal In The Regular Season Finale

No. 13 Stanford Doubles Up On Cal, 17-7
BERKELEY - A stretch of nine consecutive goals propelled No. 13 Stanford to a 17-7 victory over the California women's lacrosse team Friday night from California Memorial Stadium in the 2018 regular season finale.
The Golden Bears head to next week's Pac-12 Tournament with a record of 6-11, 2-8.
Against the Cardinal,
Kirsten Swanson paced Cal's scoring attack with four points (three goals, one assist), while
Meredith Haggerty collected six draws and two ground balls.
Eliza Christman scored twice, and
Caroline Corzel and
Susie Ropp also chipped in with goals.
In addition to Haggerty's defensive efforts,
Elizabeth Koehler registered four draws, two ground balls and caused one turnover, while
Kendall Swenson led the Bears with five ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers.
Koehler set the school single-season record for draws, now with 74. She surpassed
Megan Takacs and her previous record of 72 in 2013.
Cal hung in there with the Cardinal at the outset of the contest, trailing Stanford by only three halfway through the first half.
Beginning at the 9:40 mark in the first half until halfway through the second half, the Cardinal went on a run of nine consecutive goals to take control of the game.
Cal heads to Boulder, Colo., for the Pac-12 Tournament next week from April 26-29.
